Greetings from Dumka-Raiganj Province of the Society of Jesus.
All of us aim at a better human life and sustainable development. There are many aspects to a better human life on this earth. We are not purely natural beings who are born, live, die and disappear from the face of the earth. We have a divine destiny and this divine aspect in us long for something beyond the mundane. We are never satisfied with what we have or achieved; what we accumulate and achieve do not give us permanent happiness and contentment. We feel the absence of something that we are unable to comprehend. Very often we mistake it for absence or lack of some worldly commodities and strive to get what we think we lack. Yet, we never are fully happy.
Only when we learn to forget the ‘I’ in me and turn to God and to our unfortunate and unlucky fellow human beings will we feel the fullness in us. There is an unexplainable joy, peace and happiness in us when we think more of God and others than just ourselves. Our thought of God does not stop there. It naturally flows down to our fellow human beings and their welfare. I believe the world will be a much better place if all of us could get into our innermost longings and satisfy that longing of being united with the whole human family; where everyone is respected, accepted, understood and loved. Let us join together for a better world.
